With arguably the best hair in the entire festival, San Francisco underground legends Rin Tin Tiger were setting up the stage as a modest crowd filtered in to Boise’s The Bouquet. The venue, splashed with ornate trim and hosting several options for drink of choice is dark but inviting. And when bands strike up a chord it becomes a fortress of musical bliss. Now we had heard that RTT put on a show but what was about to take place leaves us with no choice but to scream from the mountain tops: YOU MUST SEE THESE GUYS LIVE!

Imagine something you thought as aggressive folk becoming an expansive, dynamic unforgettable performance laced with mind altering bass licks, festival pace-setting drums and the most acoustic rock lead you will ever see.

I stood stage-left, front row, just under lead singer/guitar maestro Kevin Sullivan. As the plucking, strumming adventure that is everything you wished Rin Tin Tiger would be live took shape the energy in The Bouquet transcended independent rock, small-venue performance and Treefort 2014 altogether.  The performance dabbled in Splinter Remedies and a little Toxic Pocketbook and threw in a new track as well. Whether it because of Andrew Skewes-Cox’s humor, Sean Sullivan’s head banging style or Kevin Sullivan’s commanding, but never overpowering, lead, the lucky souls present had one monumentally amazing time. The entire set essentially became a musically religious experience preached by the Bay Area’s power trio.

Being completely consumed by the music, it was only after the show did I realize the venue was packed tightly all the way to the back. Their set fused together folks from all walks of life and made believers out of us all. Not only did Rin Tin Tiger draw a crowd, they single-handedly had one of, if not, the best show of the Festival.
