Creaky hinges and drawn shadows frame the lead music video for Boise’s Charlie Sutton.

“Slick Willie (The Ballad of Willie Sutton)” has been let out of its cell.

The steely guitar, strings, banjo, and syncopated blends sink the melodic story of the elusive inmate while showcasing the all-intriguing range of Sutton himself.

Aiming for a June 2019 release of his album Primitive Songs for Modern Times, Charlie Sutton entices us with his distinctively Americana style. Produced by Sutton and Travis Ward (of Hillfolk Noir fame), the track features Charlie Sutton (banjo, guitar, and lead vocals), Sam Alkire (upright bass, backing vocals), Adam Straubinger (fiddle, backing vocals) Alison Ward (washboard, percussion) and Travis Ward (backing vocals).
