If you’ve ever heard of DJ/Producer Chrissy Muderbot, most of this will not come as a surprise to you. If you haven’t, we’re going to start from the beginning.
On your stereo there is a selection called “Bass.” This has nothing to do with a fish. Good, glad we’ve established that. Now turn that sucker all the way to eleven and press play on Murderbot’s newest EP Friendship.
The EP truly consists of two tracks, but includes two remixes by the extremely talented SumSun and Legowelt; “Bionic Penguins” and “Friendship.” Friendship will be released later this month via Halocyan Records and if the track title “Bionic Penguins” doesn’t pique your interest then you’ll just have to take my word for it and check it out. Keeping a steady hand on heavy beats, Murderbot holds the cards when it comes to addicting transitions and infectious dance. So much so that, though he is from Chicago, it is hard to not associate this with the sound from what is pouring out of the Western Europe clubs. His heavy use of light synth and spinning effects makes the “loop” feature on your stereo meaningful for once.
I’ll be honest, I’m not one to frequent the club scene all too often anymore, but this is something I’d show to see live. I’m finding it hard to shake out of my headphones as is. The imaginative style is easily absorbed by even the firmest nay-sayers and is sure to please the seasoned ears. Experience remixing (Theophilus London, Pixelord, Mark Stewart) combined with adding a vintage tip-of-the-hat to his original sound makes Chrissy Murderbot one hell of a ride and makes Friendship hard to remove yourself from. Even after it is over his beats are still pulsating in my body.
I like.
