A wild ride, an unbridled passion for music, and a work ethic hard to rival. These are just a few ways to describe the Los Angeles based decoded. But as is all too common in the world we live in, seemingly insurmountable odds pair too fittingly with life changes that tear musicians down.  Hard touring, a need to make a living, and the disassembling of the power band that was led to a hiatus of uncertainty.

Well it just so happens that the man behind one of the most addicting band most have never heard of refuses to let the ebb and flow of life keep him down for long. After taking some time off from decoded, the brains behind the operation, Derek Jordan is poised for a triumphant homecoming.

Don’t mistake his sideline for a return to the locker room. No, this guy was just getting some Gatorade and Cheez-Its (if those two are a thing together. We don’t judge.) and now he is sticking his foot up the ass of doubt and proclaiming his return.

Jordan returns in full swing (if not slightly better) with a sense of maturity without sacrificing the energetic, fun styling that made decoded one of the more underrated sounds we’ve experienced. His signature guitar work tears heavily at the all-too-honest proclamation and we couldn’t be more excited.

With an anthem like this, it is hard not to agree; this will be his year! Here is Derek Jordan’s “This Will Be My Year”
